Whiteside Forum to host Scandinavian happiness presentation Jan. 26 in Morrison

MORRISON – The Whiteside Forum will hold a “Scandinavian Cultural Highlights and the Secret to Happiness” presentation by Ulf Jonas Björk, Ph.D., at 2 p.m. on Jan. 26, in the Odell Public Library’s community room, 307 S. Madison St., Morrison.

Admission to the forum is free.

Attendees can learn why Nordic countries are the happiest nations, as ranked by the United Nations. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

Björk taught journalism for 35 years at Indiana-Purdue University. He has written several book chapters and journal articles and coauthored two books. Björk was named a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar in American Studies at Uppsala University in 2012. He has been an Augustana College Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center advisory committee member for over 20 years.

Björk currently is a visiting professor of Scandinavian studies at the college.
