Dixon’s Harrington scores career-high: Dixon (17-4) senior Darius Harrington scored a new high with 46 points in an 80-66 win over Freeport. It was the second most points ever scored by a Dukes player. Karl Olson scored 51 points for Dixon in 1953.
Sterling drops two: Sterling had two setbacks in its MLK Classic, falling 61-55 to St. Viator and 71-52 to Christ the King. Maddux Osborn (14 points) and Kaedon Phillips (13) led Sterling in scoring against St. Viator, which hit 11 3-pointers. Henry Marshall led St. Viator with 30 points.
Pecatonica 63, Eastland 55: Cooper Hoffman led the No. 1 team in the Class 1A Associated Press poll with 27 points in the home MLK Memorial win. Fifth-ranked Eastland was led by Adam Awender, who had 17 points. Parker Krogman added 16 and Zy Haverland had 12 for the Cougars. Krogman earned all-tournament for Eastland.

Sterling wins MLK invite: Sterling used a strong finish to win the eight-team invite, tallying a collective 5,130 to edge runner-up Dixon (5,109). Galesburg (4,724) was third, followed by Geneseo (4,675), United Township (4,592), Rochelle (4,587), Erie-Prophetstown (4,465) and Kewanee (3,902).
Sterling’s Sarah Doughty was the individual champion with a 1,294 six-game series.
Girls basketball
Sterling splits in Byron: Byron finished a 4-0 showing after beating Sterling 56-43. The Tigers and Rockford Lutheran were co-champions after both went 4-0. Sterling beat Kaneland 46-30 in Monday’s opening game.
Erie-Prophetstown 35, Bureau Valley 32: The Panthers won the back and forth matchup at home. Libby Endress led BV with 14 points in the game.
