Dixon County Market donated $13,833.21 to the Dixon Food Pantry on Monday, Jan. 20, as part of its annual Hope Bag food drive. Customers bought the bags, filled with stable food items for $6.99 apiece. Those bags were then donated to the pantry along with the money collected.

The grocery store had a goal of selling 1,500 bags and surpassed that by selling 1,979, once again surpassing any other store in the Niemann Foods Co. chain across six states.

“Our Dixon community is wonderful, caring and compassionate, and it shows,” customer service manager Cristine Love said. “We could not accomplish this each year without them. Many customers tell us they look forward to it.”
