Brooklyn Smith leads four Comets in double figures: Thursday’s Sauk Valley roundup

Girls basketball

Newman 65, Mendota 18: The Comets rolled to a Three Rivers East win behind four players scoring in double figures. Brooklyn Smith (five 3-pointers) led the way with 17 points, followed by Gisselle Martin (14 points), Helen Papoccia (10) and Elaina Allen (10). Newman led 20-7 after one quarter in the dominant win.

Ridgewood 43, Bureau Valley 37: Kadyn Haage had nine points and Libby Endress scored eight in the road setback for BV.

Boys basketball

Eastland 60, Fulton 40: Parker Krogman’s 24 points led the way to an Eastland win and Peyton Spears added 16 points. Jacob Voss led Fulton with 16 points.

Milledgeville 52, Ashton Franklin-Center 43: Micah-Toms Smith had 17 points and Karter Livengood scored 16 for the Missiles in the win. Brock Lehman (12 points) and Caleb Thomas (11) led A-FC.

Amboy 57, Polo 47: Ezra Parker led the Clippers with 19 points in the win. Quinn Leffelman (15 points) and Bryson Deery (10) also reached double figures for Amboy. Gus Mumford led Polo with 21 points and Eli Perez had 14.

Forreston 53, Lena 44: Kendall Erdmann scored 17 points and Brendan Greenfield scored 16 for Forreston in the win. Erdmann also had seven assists.

Girls bowling

Moline 3024, Sterling 3017: Sterling (9-1) dropped its first dual meet by a thin margin as Sarah Doughty’s 643 series led the team. Her 233 was also high game for the team.

Boys wrestling

Sterling 72, Alleman 11: The Warriors rolled to a dual road win as Landon Heckman, Cael Lyons, Zyan Westbrook, Jonahas Tyne, Tatum Allen, Christopher Wellman, Brady McCray, Colt Buntjer and Charlie Reyes all had pins.

Oregon 77, Winnebago 6: Oregon had eight pins and a technical fall in the dual win. Andrew Young had the quickest pin of the night, winning in 1:13.

Oregon 74, North Boone 4: Isaiah Perez eeked out a 7-6 decision at 120 pounds for Oregon in the dominant dual win.

Polo 39, Amboy 17: Polo benefited from six wins by forfeit and Jaidyn McKinney won a 13-6 decision at 138 pounds in the dual win.

Boys swimming

Sterling 103, Moline 63: Sterling won all but two events in the dual win. Conner Porter won the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and swam on two relay wins.
