DIXON – Five community leaders were recognized Thursday for their dedication, leadership and service to the Sauk Valley throughout 2024.
The Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce presented awards to Brent Reuter and Tygen Bausman and honored three SVACC ambassadors during the chamber’s annual awards ceremony at Deer Valley Banquet.
The 2024 Chamber Champion Award was presented to Reuter for his outstanding contributions to the Sauk Valley community. As a professional at Raynor, a mentor to the CEO program and a member of the Sauk Valley Community Leadership Program, he is a guide to young professionals, ensuring they see the potential of what the region has to offer.
Under his guidance as co-founder and president, Rock River Disc Golf has developed seven disc golf courses, hosted numerous leagues and tournaments, and provided outreach programs that connect individuals of all ages. Through his efforts, Reuter has raised thousands of dollars for local causes, including the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, the Sauk Valley Food Bank and Rock River Hospice and Home. His passion for the sport and commitment to making a difference have left a lasting mark on the Sauk Valley region, according to a news release.
The Lavonne Colloton Ambassador of the Year Award was presented to Bausman, of Sauk Valley Bank. Bausman’s commitment to connecting with members and fostering relationships has made a lasting impression. She is always willing to lend a hand and regularly steps up to assist in chamber and community events. She is an active member of the Hispanic Business Leaders Committee, where she is driving new projects to create new partnerships to provide resources to local students.
The chamber also recognized three ambassadors for their dedication and years of service: Allie Johnston of the University of Illinois Extension, 10 years; Mary White of Community State Bank, 20 years; and Karen Voss of Morningside of Sterling, 25 years.
These individuals have been instrumental in supporting chamber events and initiatives, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to fostering growth and collaboration within the Sauk Valley region, according to the release.
“The Sauk Valley region is incredibly fortunate to have leaders like Brent, Tygen and our dedicated ambassadors,” SVACC Executive Director Dallas Knack said. “Their passion and hard work inspire us all and help build a stronger, more connected community.”
The chamber extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the honorees and thanks them for their continued efforts to make Sauk Valley an exceptional place to live and work.
