Boys bowling
Dixon, Oregon advance to state: The Dukes and Hawks continued their strong seasons after finishing second and third, respectively, at the Oregon Sectional. Harlem (6,264) took first, followed by Dixon (6,197), Oregon (6,105) and Huntley (6,075).
Dixon’s Wyatt Miller was the individual champion with a 1,361 six-game series, with Aaron Fitzanko (1,256), Cody Geil (1,196), David Laird (1,153) and Daniel Sotelo (1,231) also scoring.
Oregon was led by Gavvin Surmo’s 1,297, with Caleb Brooks (1,248), RJ Keene (1,228) and Ethan Smice (1,206) not far behind. Matthew Stahl (786) and Caleb Ehrler (340) also scored for the Hawks.
Sterling’s Bryce Kooy had an 1,141 series and David Oelrichs rolled a 1,066 to close their seasons.
The state bowling finals take place next Friday and Saturday at St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon.
Girls basketball
Lena-Winslow 50, Polo 49: Polo junior Cam Jones eclipsed 1,000 points for her career after flirting with a quadruple-double, scoring 14 points with 11 rebounds, eight assists and eight steals. Katelyn Rockwood added 13 points in the setback for Polo.
Rockford Christian 62, Rock Falls 41: The Rockets were unable to dig out of a 24-5 deficit after the first quarter in the road setback.
Boys basketball
Milledgeville 54, Stockton 43: Micah Toms-Smith scored 20 points, Konner Johnson had 17 and Karter Livengood had 13 in the Missiles' win. Milledgeville trailed 27-21 at halftime before coming back.
Eastland 58, Bureau Valley 33: Peyton Spears scored 19 points, Adam Awender had 18 and Parker Krogman had 12 in the Eastland win. Landon Hulsing led the Storm with 15 points.
Forreston 73, Oregon 50: Forreston outscored Oregon 46-23 in the second half of the home win as Kendall Erdmann led the Cardinals with 35 points and six assists. Cooper Johnson and Kade Girton each scored 14 points for Oregon.
Fulton 60, Easton Valley 41: Jacob Voss led Fulton with 21 points to close the Eric Ottens shootout. The Steamers led 21-4 after the first quarter in the win.
Polo 48, West Carroll 45: The Marcos held off the Thunder to take the win at Fulton’s Eric Ottens Shootout.
Boys swimming
Sterling takes third: Sterling tallied 201 points at the United Township Panther Invite, finishing behind only Galesburg (297) and Normal Community (234). Conner Porter took second in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, and Patrick Riley won the 100 backstroke.

Sterling’s Westbrook wins at Bob Lueders: Zyan Westbrook won the 132-pound title to highlight Sterling’s showing at the Bob Lueders invite in Clinton.Rock Falls fifth at Bob Mitton Invitational: The Rockets took fifth at the 23-team invite as Adan Oquendo won the 126-pound title. Polo’s Lucas Nelson fell to Riverdale’s Dean Wainwright in the 132-pound title match, with Rock Falls' Logan Thome taking third.
Amboy’s Aden Spinelli was runner-up at 106 pounds, dropping a 10-4 decision to Rockridge’s Nate Lower. Caiden Heath was also third for Amboy at 144 pounds among area wrestlers to finish in the top three.
Oregon wins Randy Bowman Invitational: Oregon tallied 205 points to take the title in Le Roy as Josiah Perez took first place at 113 pounds. Preston LaBay and Nelson Benesh had runner-up finishes, and Jackson Messenger, Andrew Young and Landen Elder all took third for the Hawks.
