Newman 46, St. Bede 45: Brooklyn Smith hit the go-ahead 3-pointer in the closing seconds and finished with 14 points in the road win Tuesday. Gisselle Martin had 18 points and went 4 of 4 at the foul line for Newman, and Helen Papoccia added eight points for the Comets. Lili McClain led St. Bede with 16 points.

Dixon 49, Genoa-Kingston 40: The Duchesses (21-4, 6-0 Big Northern Conference) picked up another important conference win to keep pace with undefeated Stillman Valley (24-0, 6-0).

Morrison 49, Forreston 27: Camryn Veltrop scored 25 points as the Fillies (3-22) won their third straight game since Veltrop’s return from injury.

Stillman Valley 66, Oregon 49: The Hawks fell to the undefeated Cardinals (24-0, 6-0) in the BNC matchup. Oregon (10-13, 0-5) was led by Ella Dannhorn’s 14 points. Taylor Davidson had 27 points for Stillman Valley.

Polo 48, Milledgeville 19: Camrynn Jones had 16 points, eight steals and nine assists in the Polo win. Carlee Grobe and Leah Tobim added nine points each for the Marcos. Kendra Hutchison led the Missiles with seven points.

Eastland 45, Fulton 24: Olivia Klinefelter scored a game-high 26 points, going 12 of 20 at the line, in the road win. The Cougars (12-14, 8-1) are in first place in the NUIC South.

Boys basketball

Rock Island 78, Sterling 59: The Golden Warriors fell to 11-12 and 3-6 in the Western Big 6 Conference after the home loss to the Rocks (21-3, 8-1). Kaedon Phillips led Sterling with 23 points, and Will Ports had 10 in the setback. Ben Goeh led Rock Island with 29 points.

Fulton 50, Polo 20: The Steamers improved to 11-12 and 4-1 in the NUIC South as Landen Leu scored a game-high 22 points. Braedon Meyers added nine points in a game Fulton led 18-6 after one quarter. Gus Mumford led Polo with nine points.

Girls bowling

Sterling 3,025, Rock Island 2,740: The Golden Warriors improved to 11-1 in dual meets as Sarah Doughty had a 237 high game and 665 series. Olivia Barton added a 568 series and 224 game, and Kara Garcia rolled a 505.

Dixon 2,961, Erie-Prophetstown 2,497: Dixon improved to 9-3 as Autumn Swift had a 546 series and 219 game. Lillian McHilliams led the Panthers with a 479 series.

Boys wrestling

Erie-Prophetstown 53, Hall/Putman County 12: Picking up pins for E-P in the dual win were Noah Wetzel, Jeffrey Chastain, and Caleb Reymer.

Rockridge 45, E-P 23: Matthew Crandall and Wyatt Goosens had pins, Tristan Hovey had a tech fall, and Chastain and Reymer each had decision wins for the Panthers in the loss.
