MORRISON – A second woman has been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to one count each of domestic battery and felony criminal trespass to a residence in connection with a Sterling home invasion case.
Kara A. Flynn, 23, of Kewanee pleaded guilty and was sentenced on those charges Tuesday in Whiteside County Circuit Court. One count each of felony home invasion causing injury, battery and mob action were dropped as part of a plea deal.
Flynn was charged Sept. 12, 2023, in connection with entering a residence in the 800 block of West Seventh Street in Sterling and attacking a man and a woman.
Flynn was accused of entering the residence, punching the man in the face and pulling the woman’s hair.
Flynn also must serve two days in jail, complete 50 hours of community service and pay $2,824, which includes a $1,075 fine.
Patience A. M. Meyers, 19, of Rock Falls who was charged with the same offenses, pleaded guilty Jan. 22 to battery and felony criminal trespass.
Meyers was sentenced to two years of probation; two days in jail; must complete 100 hours of community service; must attend an anger management program; and must pay $2,809, which includes a $1,000 fine.
