OREGON – A Rockford man has been charged with possessing lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and psilocybin mushrooms after Ogle County sheriff’s deputies stopped his vehicle Sunday in the 1000 block of South Route 2.
Daniel J. Boemeke, 46, was charged Wednesday with two Class 4 felonies accusing him of possessing the controlled substances. According to court records, Boemeke possessed 1.5 grams of LSD and less than 200 grams of a substance containing psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in certain species of mushrooms, commonly known as “magic mushrooms.”
Boemeke also is charged with the misdemeanor offense of operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license and two traffic offenses of driving with suspended registration for not having insurance and operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance.
Court records accuse Boemeke of not having a driver’s license within the past year.
After his arrest Sunday, Boemeke was taken to the Ogle County Jail, where he was released on a notice to appear in court at 9 a.m. Feb. 21.
Boemeke also was charged in May 2024 with the misdemeanor offense of driving on a suspended license. He failed to appear in court twice on that charge, but he appeared in court Monday and was given a March 10 court date, according to court records.
He was ordered to appear in person for each of those upcoming court dates.
