Boys bowling
Dixon, Sterling bowlers advance to sectional: Dixon took second as a team with a 6,052 total at the Kaneland Regional at Mardi Gras Lanes to advance to the sectional as a team. Sterling took eighth as David Oelrichs and Bryce Kooy eached rolled 1,101 to advance as individuals after tying for 23rd.
Sycamore (6,260) won the regional, with Rock Island (5,692) and Yorkville (5,651) also advancing as teams. Erie-Prophetstown took 12th.
Amboy senior Dominic Fonderoli also advanced as an individual with a 1,206 series, placing 10th.
Daniel Sotelo was runner-up with a 1,303 series for Dixon and David Laird (1,292) took third. Sycamore’s Brian Weigel was the top individual with a 1,368.
Cody Geil (1,193) took 13th and Wyatt Miller (1,151) was 18th for Dixon.
Boys basketball
Sterling 62, Geneseo 27: Sterling (11-8, 3-4) rolled to a Western Big 6 Conference win as Kaedon Phillips scored a game-high 27 points against the winless Maple Leafs (0-17, 0-7). Nico Battaglia added 10 points and Maddux Osborn had nine for Sterling. Xavian Prather had eight points off the bench for the Golden Warriors.
Rockford Christian 55, Oregon 40: RC improved to 16-0 and 3-0 in the Big Northern Conference with the win. Benny Olalde led Oregon (10-10, 2-1) with 15 points and Kade Girton had 10 in the setback.
Polo 70, Milledgeville 67: Gus Mumford led Polo with 27 points in the home win. Eli Perez added 14 points and Mercer Mumford added 11 for the Marcos. Micah Toms-Smith had 36 points for Milledgeville as the Missiles fell short.

Winnebago 61, Rock Falls 21: Ashley Rodriguez and Miley Bickett each had six points and Elizabeth Lombardo had seven in the Rockets’ loss.

Dixon 2698, Kewanee 2111: Autumn Swift led Dixon with a 525 series to help the team improve to 8-3 in dual meets.
