STERLING — 4-H members from Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside counties will compete in a public speaking contest on Monday, Feb. 17, at the Whiteside County Extension Office.
The public is invited to attend to see what the talented 4-H’ers have prepared for presentation. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. with speeches to follow beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Whiteside County Extension Office is located at 12923 Lawrence Road, Sterling.
4-H’ers wishing to compete should pre-register before Feb. 12 by visiting go.illinois.edu/PublicSpeakingCLW or contacting their county 4-H program coordinator. Speech categories include Formal Speech, Illustrated Speech, Original Works and Oral Interpretation.
Speeches may be presented individually or as a two-person team. This competition is required for the chance to advance to the state competition in April.
