Dignified farewell for old U.S. flags

The Morrison American Legion Post 328 retired nearly 600 flags during a ceremony Sunday.

Section 8 of the U.S. flag code prescribes: “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
