In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, the Dixon City Fire Department has been giving training and demonstrations to the cities third graders.
Students are taught on how to “stop, drop and roll,” how to handle simple fires such as food on a stove top, and how to safely leave a burning home.
The department also wanted to make sure the kids are comfortable seeing firefighters in their gear so they can safely be helped in an emergency situation.
