DIXON – Local hotel developers plan to bring a Hilton to town.
Dixon Super 8 owners Magan Patel and Nitin Patel are joining together with Al Hill, who developed and co-owns the Quality Inn, to build a new 82-room Hilton Tru just east of the Super 8.
Nitin Patel is a partner in a hotel management company that now manages the Quality Inn, and his group is now the majority owner of that hotel, Hill said.
Magan Patel is the original owner of the Super 8 and will furnish the new hotel site, and become a partner as well.
Hill has constructed more than 100 hotels through the development firm Hillcrest Development Inc. in Dixon, and he said he’s excited to bring another hotel to the city. There’s not another Hilton for 50 miles or farther.
“Hilton Tru is Hilton’s newest brand that is growing very fast across the country,” Hill said. “It features a hip-looking lobby with several TVs and an electronic shuffleboard game area to meet with friends and just hang out.”
He said the Super 8 was the first hotel he ever built, and he and Magan Patel have been friends for 25 years.
They worked with the city, the Lee County Industrial Development Association, and the Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Main Street for the project. The city is looking to create a new tax increment financing district that would include the hotel, and it’s also eligible for incentives by the Lee-Ogle Enterprise Zone.
Work is estimated to start in the spring on the property along Bloody Gulch Road.
