DIXON – The Dixon Park District is honoring a longtime board member by naming the Lowell Park bike trails after him.

Shane Miller, who has served on the board for 10 years, will be stepping down following the April 6 consolidated election. He’s held several leadership roles with the board, including president and vice president.

Miller has been biking the Lowell Park trails for more than 30 years, before the I.C. Rail Trail existed, and was always supportive of their development and maintenance.

“His enthusiasm and support were instrumental in getting these trails created and built as the trails we now know them as,” the Park District said in a news release.

The district is naming its mountain biking trails the Miller Trail System, and plans are underway to expand development of the trails later this year.
