Dixon hotel developer getting close to breaking ground, considering extended stay hotel as next venture

Local developers are planning to build a Hilton Tru east of the Super 8 in Dixon.

DIXON – Work on a Hilton Tru in Dixon is expected to begin soon, and it could be followed by a future extended stay hotel in the Gateway Project footprint.

Al Hill of Hillcrest Development Inc. in Dixon, who built and co-owns the Quality Inn at 136 Plaza Drive, partnered with Dixon Super 8 owners Magan Patel and Nitin Patel to develop a Hilton Tru on Bloody Gulch Road.

Nitin Patel is a partner in a hotel management company that now manages the Quality Inn, and his group is now the majority owner of that hotel. Magan Patel is the original owner of the Super 8 and will furnish the new hotel site, and become a partner as well.

The four-story hotel will include 82 rooms just east of the Super 8, and they plan to break ground in April, Hill said.

That construction could be followed by another development, potentially an Extended Stay America, he said.

Extended stay hotels rent rooms for a week at a time for those looking for a temporary place to live or work.

Hill said it would be great for construction workers, people in training programs, visiting doctors and others.

He’s working with officials with the Gateway Project, which aims to develop 27 acres along South Galena Avenue across from Walmart between Keul and Bloody Gulch roads with plans to include the construction of a dozen buildings to bring a new hotel, gas station, restaurants and shops to Dixon.

Hill has constructed more than 100 hotels through the development firm Hillcrest Development Inc.
