Goodfellows of Lee County accepting applications for annual holiday giveaway

DIXON – Goodfellows of Lee County is accepting applications for its annual Christmas giveaway.

The application, copies of all income for past 30 days and verification that all live at the same address must be mailed to: Goodfellows of Lee County, P.O. box 674, Dixon, IL 61021.

The application period runs from Sept. 1 to Dec. 1. Applications must be in by Oct. 31 in order for those interested to receive a food voucher and possibly be chosen by other charitable organizations such as Shop with a Cop, Shop with a Sheriff, Illinois Department of Transportation, Dixon Sister Cities Association, Shamrock Club and various churches and schools.

Goodfellows is most known for helping hundreds of families during the holiday season with gifts and food vouchers, but it also gives away furniture, clothing, books and other household items to those in need.

The nonprofit also assists with many organizations and events including Shop with a Cop and Shop with a Sheriff, YWCA of the Sauk Valley, Teen Turf, Red Cross, Salvation Army, United Way of Lee County, Dixon PADS Shelter, Dixon Food Pantry, as well as area schools and churches.

The 2021 giveaway will take place at the Franklin Grove Church of the Brethren, 121 W. North St.
