DIXON — The driver whose car struck a tree April 10, resulting in the death of two of his three passengers, was indicted on two counts of reckless homicide, the Lee County state’s attorney said this afternoon.

Draven Z. Webb, 20, of Dixon, is in Lee County jail on $100,000 bond.

Webb was driving at a rate of speed “unreasonable given the circumstances,” State’s Attorney Charley Boonstra said.

Reckless homicide is punishable by 2 to 5 years.

The crash happened around 4:15 p.m., when the vehicle Webb was driving hit the tree off Robbins Road south of Amboy Road, the Lee County sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Two passengers, Brecken Kooy and Cayley Krug, both 14 and of Dixon, died at the scene. The other passenger, a 14-year-old Amboy girl, was treated at Peoria Children’s Hospital, while Webb was treated at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Brecken was an eighth-grader at Reagan Middle School, while Cayley was a Dixon High freshman.
