Roundup: Sauk men open postseason with win

The Sauk Valley Skyhawks opened their postseason with a 62-50 win over Malcolm X in a Region IV quarterfinal on Thursday night in Dixon, the second win over Malcolm X in five days.

Devon House had 12 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and three assists, and Derian Duncan added 11 points and three assists for the Skyhawks (15-13), who led 28-23 at halftime before pulling away for good.

Beau Bailey finished with nine points and four rebounds, Riek Riek added eight points and seven rebounds, and Andre Brandon chipped in seven points and seven rebounds for Sauk. Jamal Winston scored six points, Cade Nailor finished with four points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals, and Monte McCoy dished three assists and nabbed three steals.

The Skyhawks advance to the Region IV semifinals on Saturday, where they will play at Triton at 3 p.m.
