This spring, Kane County voters get to decide who will make the important decisions regarding their communities, schools, townships, fire departments, parks and libraries.

Andrew Fekete: I recognize that property taxes represent a real concern for many community members. At the same time, I believe that a strong public school system is a cornerstone of a thriving community, so we must use every tax dollar responsibly and transparently.

Dana Wiley: If a school lesson is deemed by a parent to not be appropriate for their own student, that parent should have the ability to opt their student out of the lesson and be provided an alternative lesson by the school for their student

Corine Burns: Changes worth considering in the D158 Medication policy include revising the requirement for both parental and physician authorization for administering over-the-counter medication, allowing only parental authorization instead

Paul Troy on top priorities for the district: 1. Academic learning gaps 2. Long term financial condition of the district 3. Student safety and discipline

Rich Bobby on a top priority for Huntley District 158: Strengthening Special Education services and creating meaningful inclusion

Jim Hollich: Cell phones should not be allowed in classes. Students should turn them in at the beginning of class and pick them up at the end.

Sean Cratty: While I understand and support our medication policy, I believe that communication to our parents regarding our policy needs to be better

Andrew Martin: I firmly believe it is important that student’s complete schoolwork without AI to improve their own knowledge base, mathematics and reading skills
