Will County prosecutors said a Joliet man approached an inmate at the jail and asked him to kill a confidential informant in a 2017 felony gun case.
Jay Nink won't be released from the Will County jail as prosecutors seek to determine the source of any bond money that may be posted for him. Since 2019, Nink has been facing a charge of soliciting the murder of a confidential informant.
The joint investigation by the Joliet Police Narcotics Unit, Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives netted two tables full of bullets and 31 weapons
