Joliet Central’s new track and the best running day of the year conspired to send a battalion of runners, jumpers and throwers to next weekend’s 3A state championship.
Kaneland typically competes in 2A in track and field but did well in a bump up to 3A with six individuals and a relay qualifying for the state meet.
Aidan Wyzard and Dylan Hodges each won four events, while Eli Crome qualified in three to help lead Sycamore to a sectional title. Dale Johnson qualified in two distance events for Sterling, and 11 1,600 runners qualified.
