The steeple from the former Lincoln Ave. Church of God in Dixon was removed from the building now occupied by Goodfellows of Lee County. Word was a time capsule was stashed inside the structure.
Goodfellows is most known for helping hundreds of families during the holiday season with gifts and food vouchers, but it also gives away furniture, clothing, books and other household items to those in need.
The giveaway will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Franklin Grove Church of the Brethren, 121 W. North St.
Goodfellows of Lee County is preparing to help hundreds of families during the group's annual Christmas giveaway.
“We want to continue what we do for the public, and we want this agency to go on long after we’re gone.”
