It didn’t exactly feel like autumn, but that didn’t matter to the thousands of visitors to Oregon’s Autumn on Parade on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-6. The popular fall event included a craft market, car and tractor show, Olde English Fair at Stronghold Camp & Retreat Center and a large parade.

Visitors to the Back Roads Market were not disappointed Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024 with four stops on this year’s tour. And if you love ice cream, Hough’s Maple Lane Farm was the place to be. Larry, Sandra and Ralph Flickinger of Sugar Grove, Illinois, brought their “Flicks’ Hit-N-Miss” to Hough’s Maple Lane Farm, 3788 N. Mt. Morris Rd., and created homemade ice cream on site with their 100-year-old hit-n-miss stationary engine. And they brought their display of antique ice cream scoops.

Four stops are offered this year on the Back Roads Market tour.

The Makers Market will hold the second annual Midsummer Makers Market at Yorkville Town Square Park, North Bridge Street.

Dixon City Market is on Wednesday evenings, while Music at the Square is on Fridays.

The event will feature an art market with over 35 artists specializing in pottery, wood, photography, painting, jewelry, fiber, glass, metal, leather, mosaics and more.

Visitors to the weekly market found ways to stay cool on a scorching day in the Sauk Valley.

The Dixon City Market, Riverfront & Hennepin Ave., is a good way to connect with local produce vendors and crafters. The market is held on Wednesdays, 5-8 p.m. along the riverfront. Local produce growers, artisan crafters, bakers, are just some of the vendors at the market. It also includes music, crafters, and food trucks.

Catfish Days in Wilmington runs from Thursday through Sunday and includes a carnival, catfish dinners available at four different venues food vendors, beer garden, live music and more.

Grain and fertilizer prices jumped Thursday, hours after Russian troops launched attacks on cities throughout Ukraine and Russian troops invaded the country.
