Six years after it was announced, a new wing devoted to transitional care for residents opened this week at the DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Officials said they believe the new wing will help grow census numbers, a needed step to improving overall finances.

Jill Zarek knows how much it means to her to have searched and found a residential community that she can call home. At Barb City Manor in DeKalb, Zarek said she’s found a place where she genuinely wants to be. The Manor turns 45 this year.
