State's Attorney-elect Randi Freese is scheduled to become the first woman to serve in that role Monday. Several new county board members are set to begin their terms Monday as well.
The list of candidates for next year’s elections began to take shape this week. On the ballot next year are countywide offices, two county-level judicial vacancies and seats on the McHenry County Board and in the Illinois House and Congress.
“Illinois needs a Comptroller with real financial experience, not a career politician controlled by the special interests,” McHenry County Auditor Shannon Teresi said in a statement.
Removing Regional Superintendent Leslie Schermerhorn "is in the best interest of the county and the people we serve, the students and the faculty of all these school districts,” said board member Paula Yensen, D-Lake in the Hills
McHenry County Board members said it is an unfortunate, but necessary course of action they must take to remove the regional superintendent after years of failed audits and little being done to correct significant mishandling of funds
