Summer Camp

As the first heat wave of the season ripples across the U.S., summer camps are working to keep their children cool while still letting the kids enjoy being outside with nature

Kids aged 7-14 had a chance this week for a couple days of fun at Dixon Park District's SPARK Camp. The camp runs four days with different age groups getting two days of fun.

This eight-week camp will cost $50 per child and run from 9 a.m. to noon daily, including lunch.

The St. Charles Park District offers several camp options and sites, from nature camps at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center to Farm Camp at Primrose Farm.

All local Camp Invention programs are facilitated and taught by qualified educators who reside and teach in the community.

The Plainfield East High School Summer Art Studio runs from June 24 to June 27.

The Plainfield Park District is already preparing for the summer season with registration for summer camp, swim lessons and pool passes all opening Feb. 23.

The Art Movement’s 2023 “Summer of Stone and Steel” is from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug 3 at the Joliet Area Historical Museum, 204 N. Ottawa St. in Joliet. The event will include live music by the Sam Burns quartet, heavy appetizers, a cash bar and the opportunity to bid on the art pieces.

The final day of the younger kids' Dixon Park District SPARK Camp was held Thursday, June 15, 2023 at The Meadows. Next week kids aged 10-14 will get their chance to have a couple days of outdoor fun.
