A lawsuit filed by the owner of Ludwig, a dog that was shot by a neighbor in 2021 is still pending in Kane County Circuit Court.

Candidate hopefuls of both parties lined up early Monday morning at the Kane County Clerk’s Office to file their nominating petitions for the March 19, 2024 primary and the Nov. 5, 2024 general election.

Joe Petit, the owner of Ludwig, the dog that was shot by his neighbor in 2021, filed a lawsuit against the neighbor seeking more than $450,000 in damages plus attorney’s fees.
