Cause of fire under investigation

A team from the Joliet Fire Department uses a ladder truck to rescue a cat from a tree Wednesday.

Joliet firefighters put out a fire Saturday in a garage on Elmwood Avenue.

The detached garage in the 500 block of Elmwood Avenue in the city’s East Side is still standing.

“It was put out relatively quickly by crews from the East Side,” Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Vic Stachelskiy said.

The fire started about 11:43 a.m. Firefighters were on the scene for about 45 minutes.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Sunday morning.
