Man killed in I-55 crash in Wilmington

A Lincoln man was killed in a crash Sunday morning on Interstate 55 in Wilmington.

At 5:15 a.m., Clay Russell, 61, was pronounced dead in the southbound lanes of I-55 at milepost 238.5 in Wilmington, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.

The Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.

An autopsy of Russell was performed Sunday. The final cause and manner of Russell’s death will be determined following a review of autopsy, police and toxicological reports.
