FIRST TEAM
Taylor Miller, Plainfield East, fr.
The 2024 Herald-News Girls Golfer of the Year, Miller couldn’t have started her prep career much better. She’s the first Plainfield East golfer to make it to state, and she set school records for best score on a nine-hole course and on an 18-hole course. She tied for second at regionals (73), finished fourth at sectionals (77) and finished higher than any girls golfer in the area at state, tying for 29th.
Kiley Sanborn, Plainfield North, so.
Sanborn was just behind Miller at state, tying for 32nd with a 159. She tied for 22nd at the Boylan Catholic Sectional with an 87 and finished with an 81 at the Plainfield North Regional.
Grace Zheng, Lincoln-Way East, fr.
Zheng took the area by storm in her freshman year of high school. She finished second at the La Salle-Peru Regional with a 78 behind her teammate Bella Versetto, finished second at the Normal Sectional with a 76 and finished 36th at state with a 160.
Taylor Bush, Lincoln-Way Central, so.
The future of girls golf in the area is in good hands, as 2024’s youngsters have really stood out. Bush was the best of a good bunch for the Knights, finishing tied for third at regionals with a 79. She also tied for 12th at sectionals with an 82 and finished tied for 51st at state with a 164.
Grace Gilbert, Plainfield North, sr.
You didn’t think we’d have an entire first team with no seniors, did you? Gilbert was one of the best golfers in the area. She finished tied for fifth at the Plainfield North Invite with an 81. She finished tied for ninth at sectionals with an 80, best on the team at both events. She tied for 53rd at state with a 165.
