The advisory board of Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox recently presented the hospital with a $51,432, according to a news release from Silver Cross Hospital.
This was the second part of the advisory board’s two-year pledge to support Silver Cross’ Homer Glen Emergency Department expansion. The pledge included purchasing replacement equipment for the cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation gym.
Advisory board co-Presidents Judy Lake and Edith Schalk presented the $51,432 to Michael Mutterer, Silver Cross president and chief executive officer, who accepted the donation on behalf of the Silver Cross Foundation.
In December 2023, the ladies’ auxiliary donated $50,000 to purchase the following items: an EKG machine for the hospital’s 5:3 patient care unit; a vein finder, external pacemaker and transport chairs for the Procedural Care Unit; and a NMES (NeuroMuscular Electrical Stimulation) treatment unit and an IOPI (Iowa Oral Performance Instrument) for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s speech therapy department.
“This dedicated volunteer group of women raised the funds through resales at the Encore Shop,” according to the release.
The Encore Shop is located at 710 Cedar Crossings Drive, on the northeast corner of the hospital’s campus.
