Joliet police responded to three reports of shootings late Monday night that damaged vehicles and one residence.
No one was reported injured, according to a news release from the Joliet Police Department.
At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 21000 block of Prestwick Drive in Crest Hill for a report of a shooting that had occurred earlier in the area of Fourth and Bennett avenues in Joliet, police said.
Officers learned that around 9 p.m., a Hyundai Sonata driven by a 23-year-old male with a 23-year-old female passenger was struck by gunfire while they were driving eastbound on Fourth at Bennet Avenue, police said. The back window of the car was shattered, however neither the driver nor passenger were injured, police said.
The driver drove to the residence in Crest Hill and contacted police.
Officers responded at 10:37 p.m. to a residence in the 500 block of Second Avenue for a report of shots fired and they located nearly 10 spent shell casings in the alley behind the residence, police said.
At that time, it was believed nothing had been struck but a resident called police about an hour later to report that an unoccupied Nissan Altima and the rear of the residence had been struck by gunfire, police said.
Then at 10:55 p.m., officers responded to the area of Fourth and Bennett avenues for a delayed report of shots fired, police said. Officers found an unoccupied Chevrolet Suburban parked on the street that appeared to have been damaged by multiple rounds of gunfire, police said.
Officers located over 10 spent shell casings in the street while conducting a canvas of the area and, again, no injuries were reported, police said.
Officers were told that gunshots had been overheard in the area earlier in the evening, police said.
Police are investigating a motive for the shootings, and if the vehicles damaged by gunfire in the vicinity of Fourth Avenue and Bennett Avenue are from the same incident or if these incidents are related, police said.
