Singleton fifth-graders become first District 86 class recognized for tech achievement

Fifth-grade students in Veronica Hatch's class at Isaac Singleton Elementary have been named District 86's first "TECHsperts."

Joliet — A class of fifth grade students at Joliet Public Schools District 86’s Isaac Singleton Elementary have become the first students in the district to be named TECHsperts.

According to the district announcement, the students were recognized after the entire class successfully completed their TECHspert Track in Learning.com, a program meant to prepare students with “digital literacy, problem-solving, programming, and technology skills to help them excel in a digital world.”

Some of the skills they mastered included typing, online safety, and computer basics.

The students completed the program in addition to their normal classwork during school and each was rewarded with an official TECHspert sticker to display on their Chromebooks.

The students who earned the designation are taught by Veronica Hatch and include Brianna Barrios, Terren Burton, Jeramie Cannon, Daniel Castillo, Alexandra Enamorado, Delilah Furlow, Jaydenn Gamble-Braxton, Kobe Hardy, Salvador Hernandez Covarrubias, Areli Ingles, Jair Mancera, Luvea McNair, Melannie Ortega, Christian Perez, Ronaldo Rodriguez, Julissa Rosales, Kayden Simpson, Alexandria Sullivan, and Makari Townsell.
