The Jefferson Street bridge in Joliet is reopened as well as City Hall after both were shut down Thursday morning.

Crews successfully repaired Jefferson Street following a water main break in the area, according to a release from the city of Joliet on Friday morning.

Electrical power has also been restored, allowing City Hall, at 150 W. Jefferson St., to resume operations beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, according to the release.

The cause of the water main break is believed to be aging infrastructure, according to the city. The water main is scheduled for replacement in 2028 as part of the city’s ongoing water main replacement program.
