Seneca 65, Coal City 61: At Seneca, an instant classic finished the day the Shipyard Showdown. The Irish battled back from four points down to force overtime then took the game from the Coalers behind another scintillating performance from Paxton Giertz. Giertz scored 27 to lead all scorers and lead Seneca (12-2) into the title game against Lexington. Sebastian Deering added 12 points and Brayden Simek added 11. Dylan Young led Coal City (9-3) with 20. Gabe McHugh added 18 for the Coalers who get Hall in the third place game.
Plainfield North 78, Bloomington 48: At Pontiac, Quinten Wiencek scored 22 points and added seven boards as the Tigers bounced back to take their second game at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Pierre Pointer added 18 for North (6-5).
Lockport 71, Pontiac 61: At Pontiac, Collin Miller scored 19 points to lead the Porters to the win at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Nathan Munson scored 17 and Izeyah Pruitt added 12 and Ranzy Barbarawai added 10 for Lockport (7-6). The Porters will face Oak Park-Rover Forest at 8 am Saturday in the consolation bracket.
Providence 56, Northside Prep 46: At Park Ridge, freshman Kelechi Enyla followed his 21-point outburst with a 13-point leading effort to help the Celtics to the win at the Maine East tournament. Seth Cheney added 11 and AJ Rayford to for PC (3-9).
Lincoln-Way East 65, Tolono Unity 50: At Effingham, the Griffins advanced to the semifinals of the Effingham Tournament with the win over the Rockets. Will Buchanan led the way with 17 points and Brendan Sanders added 12 with eight steals for East (6-4).
Effingham St. Anthony 65, Lincoln-Way East 54: At Effingham, the Griffins fell to state-ranked St Anthony in the semifinals of the Effingham tournament.
Hall 55, Reed-Custer 50: At Seneca, Jacob Reardon scored 19 points and Dominic Eddy added 12 as the Comets fell in the consolation bracket of the Shipyard Showdown. Kaiden Klein added nine points for R-C.
Reed-Custer 71, Serena 65: At Seneca, Jacob Reardon did it again with another 19-point effort as the Comets picked up the win over the Huskers. Collin Monroe tossed in 18 and Matt Kuban 16 for RC (4-10). The Comets will wrap up play against Wilmington at 4:30 pm on Saturday.
Lincoln-Way West 78, Manley 61: At DeKalb, the Warriors moved into the semifinals at the 97th Chuck Dayton Tournament with the win. Wyatt Carlson led the way with 28 points as 12 different players scored for West (7-4).
DeKalb 63, Lincoln-Way West 38: At DeKalb, Wyatt Carlson scored eight and rebounded seven as the Warriors fell to the Barbs in the semifinals of the Chuck Dayton Classic. West (7-5) will face Phillips in the third place game Saturday.
Sandwich 53, Morris 47: At Plano, Jack Wheeler scored 21 points and grabbed seven boards as Morris fell at the Plano Christmas Tournament. Morris (5-4) will face Plano for 11th place at 12:15 Saturday.
Marian Catholic 67, Plainfield East 37: At Hinsdale, Kobe Jordon scored 10 points to lead the Bengals at the Hinsdale Holiday Classic. Joshua Stone added eight for East (4-8).
Dwight 66, Earlville 49: At Seneca, Luke Gallett led the Trojans into the semifinals of the Shipyard Showdown with 21 points. Joe Duffy added 15 and Collin Blanchard 10 for Dwight.
Dwight 71, Somonauk 66: At Seneca, Collin Bachand led four Trojan players in double figures with 18 points as Dwight moved into the consolation final of the Shipyard Showdown. Luke Gallett added 16, Joe Duffy scored 14 and Evan Cox added 10 for Dwight (8-5).
Coal City 59, Flanagan-Cornell 38: At Seneca, Zander Meents scored a game-high 21 to lead the Coalers into the semifinals at the Shipyard Showdown. Gabe McHugh added 12 points and Dylan Young 11 for the Coalers (9-2).
Seneca 56, Wilmington 29: At Seneca, Paxton Giertz poured in 32 points to lead the Irish to a spot in the semifinals of the Shipyard Showdown. Lucas Rink led Wilmington with eight points.
Wilmington 63, Flanagan-Cornell 55: At Seneca, Lucas Rink scored 27 as the Wildcats earned the win in their second game of the day. Declan Moran added 11 points and Brysen Meents and Ryan Kellman scored 10 each for Wilmington (6-3). The Wildcats will face Reed-Custer at 4:30 pm on Saturday.
Mahomet-Seymour 48, Joliet Central 36: At Normal, James Lee led the Steelmen at the State Farm Holiday Classic with 11 points as Central fell in the consolation bracket. Bernal Fox, Jr. added 10 for Central (2-11) who will face Addison Trail Saturday.
Harvest Christian 64, Plainfield Central 60: At Elgin, the Wildcats (1-12) will face St. Edward on Saturday in the final round of the Elgin Tournament.
Joliet Catholic 63, Peotone 51: At Kankakee, the Hilltoppers moved into the small school title game with the win over the Blue Devils at the Kankakee Holiday Tournament. Donavyn Simmons led the way with 14 points and seven assists for JCA (6-4). Jack Superits and Brady Tunkel scored 13 each and Jayden Armstrong added eight for the Hilltoppers.
Romeoville 43, Bradley-Bourbonnais 37: At Normal, Danny Thompson scored 13 points to lift the Spartans into the semifinals of the State Farm Holiday Classic. Romeoville (5-6) will play in the semifinals at 9 pm Saturday.
St. Laurence 69, Lemont 65: At Elmhurst, Matas Gaidukevicius went for a game-best 21 points as Lemont fell at the Jack Tosh Tournament at York. Gabe Sularski added 16, Shea Glotzbach 13 and Alanas Castillo 10 for Lemont (8-4). Lemont will face Stagg Saturday.
St. Ignatius 67, Minooka 55: At Elmhurst, Zan Caves and Braidy Hairald scored 16 points each as the Indians fell at the Jack Tosh Tournament. Minooka (8-6) will face Lyons Township on Saturday.
Springfield 53, Plainfield South 37: At Pekin, JJ Huerta scored 19 points as the Cougars fell in the consolation round of the Pekin Holiday Tournament.
Lincoln-Way Central 56, LaSalle-Peru 40: At Plano, Kevin Barrett led four Knights in double figures with 15 points as Central (8-5) won at the Plano Christmas Tournament. Lucas Andresen and Korey Cagnolatti scored 12 and Alex Panos 10 for LWC. The Knights will face Marmion for fifth place at 5 pm Saturday.
Newark 66, Gardner-South Wilmington 28: At Plano, Cameron Gray scored six points to lead the Panthers at the Plano Christmas Classic. GSW (1-13) will face Lisle to close out the tournament on Saturday at 9 am.

Reed-Custer 47, Beecher 37: At Peotone, sophomore Alyssa Wollenzien poured in 23 points, six boards as the Comets won at the Peotone Holiday Tournament. Leah Gracer added 10 points for RC.
Reed-Custer 28, Peotone 26: At Peotone, Leah Grace led the Comets to their second win of the day at the Peotone Holiday Tournament with nine points. Alyssa Wollenzien added eight and six boards for RC (8-7).
Homewood-Flossmoor 59, Bolingbrook 49: At Hillcrest, the Raiders fell to the conference rival Vikings at the Hillcrest Tournament falling to 9-3 on the season.
Lemont 49, East Aurora 34: At Lisle, Jess Windstrup scored 15 as Lemont won at the Lisle Cage Holiday Classic. Lexi Reyna added nine points and Vivian Antolak eight for Lemont (6-5).
Joliet Catholic 45, Bradley-Bourbonnais 31: At Peotone, the Angels won at the Peotone tournament.
Andrew 56, Romeoville 34: At Orland Park, the Spartans fell at the Sandburg Holiday Tournament. Romeoville (6-8) will play for seventh place at 1:30 pm Saturday.
Joliet West 42, Taft 39: At Wilmette, the Tigers earned their second win of the season by downing the Eagles at the Loyola Christmas tournament. West (2-11) will face Conant on Saturday in the final day of action.
Carmel Catholic 45, Lincoln-Way West 31: At Wilmette, the Warriors fell to the Corsairs at the Loyola Christmas Tournament. West (11-3) will face Lincoln-Way Central at 2:45 pm Saturday.
Batavia 52, Lincoln-Way Central 44: At Wilmette, Brooke Baechtold led the Knights with 11 points as LWC saw its lead after three quarters slip away. Kiya Newson-Cole added eight and Taylor Watt six for LWC (5-9). The Knights will face Lincoln-Way West in the final day of competition at the Loyola Christmas Tournament.
Loyola 51, Lockport 35: At Wilmette, Katie Peetz scored a career-high 16 as the Porters fell to the host Ramblers at the Loyola Christmas Tournament. Alaina Peetz and Evelyn Ingram added six points each for Lockport (15-3). The Porters will face Hersey for third place Saturday at 5:45 pm.
Sandburg 52, Providence Catholic 40: At Orland Park, Molly Knight led the Celtics with 13 points as Providence fell in the semifinals of the Sandburg Tournament. Saddie Webb added eight for PC (9-6) will face Lincoln-Way East for third place Saturday at noon.
Nazareth 73, Lincoln-Way East 58: At Orland Park, four Griffins scored in double figures as East fell to the Roadrunners in the semifinals of the Sandburg Tournament, East (10-6) will face Providence for third place Saturday at noon.
Plainfield South 35, Warren Township 29: At Orland Park, the Cougars advanced to the ninth place game at 10:30 at the Sandburg Tournament with the win over the Blue Devils. South (7-6) will face Oswego East,
Minooka 56, Yorkville 53: At Orland Park, the Indians improved to 7-8 overall with the win. They will play for fifth place against Andrew at 9 am Saturday.
Oswego East 76, Plainfield East 34: At Orland Park, the Bengals fell at the Sandburg Holiday Tournament. East (3-10) will face Warren at noon Saturday.

Steve Eckert Holiday Classic: At Cicero, Bolingbrook placed third in the team race with a number of weight class winners. Jared Craig won at 126, Aaron Camacho at 144, Tommy McDermott won at 165, and Marcus Poe was second at 150.
Plainfield Central 40, Oak Lawn 37: At Sandwich, the Wildcats placed third at the 18-team dual-meet invite. Machalski, Bowen, Thompson, Rangel, Mizelle, and Minnito were among the winners for Central.
Plainfield Central 60, Genoa-Kingston 9: At Sandwich, Emiliano Ramirez, Aiden Machalski, Michael Laudadio, Anthony Minnito, Antonio Montoya, Jayden Mizelle, Liam Thompson, Brody Rangel, Jake Joseph, and, Armani Espara won matches for the Wildcats.
Oak Lawn 60, Peotone 24: At Sandwich, Connor Pasch, Laith Abunijmeh, Blake Anderson, and John Meneses won matches for the Blue Devils.

Boys swimming
Lincoln-Way Central Invite: At New Lenox, Lincoln-Way Central swam second to Sandburg at its own invite. Lincoln-Way West finished third just a point back. West won two of the three relays taking the 200-yard medley relay and the 200=yard freestyle relay. Billy Spee won the 100-yard butterfly and Jake McCormack the 50-yard freestyle for West, Central earned wins from Dominic DiForti in the 200 and 500-yard freestyles and Tyler Hofsommer in the 100-yard breastroke.
