Joliet Central to host open house on new culinary arts addition

The addition includes 2 state-of-the-art culinary labs

Joliet Central High School will host a grand opening for its culinary arts addition on Monday. The event will include a ribbon cutting and tours of the 8,000-square-foot addition.

Joliet Central High School will host a grand opening Monday for its culinary arts addition.

The community is invited to the event, which begins at 3 p.m. at Joliet Central High School, 201 E. Jefferson St., Joliet, according to a news release from Joliet Township High School District 204.

Guests should enter through the main entrance (student center). The event will include a ribbon-cutting and tours of the 8,000-square-foot addition, according to the release.

The two “state-of-the-art culinary labs” are equipped with eight student workstations and a teacher’s station, which will accommodate 32 students per classroom, according to the release.

The culinary labs will contain “residential-grade cooking equipment,” which will include multirange gas cooktops, ovens, an espresso machine and advanced audio-visual systems with demonstration cameras, according to the release.

One classroom features a “made-for-TV aesthetic,” including a professional demonstration kitchen and café-style seating, according to the release.

“The project also includes upgrades to the restrooms, a newly designed staff wellness room and an updated group room,” according to the release.
