A Joliet man and a Crest Hill woman have been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery that occurred along Hickory Street in Joliet.
Deon Tillman, 28, of Joliet, was arrested on charges of robbery and violation of pretrial release and Anasia Williams, 23, of Crest Hill, was arrested on charges of unlawful use of a credit card, retail theft and violation of pretrial release, according to a news release from the Joliet police.
Officers responded to a report of a robbery near West Jefferson and North Hickory streets about 12:31 a.m. Jan. 4 after a male victim reported being assaulted and robbed after escorting a female acquaintance to an apartment in the 100 block of North Hickory Street, Joliet police said.
After entering the building at the request of his acquaintance, the victim was confronted by unknown male and female suspects, police said.
The victim was punched, kicked and forced to the ground, during which his wallet, containing cash and credit cards, was stolen, police said.
Shortly after, unauthorized purchases were made using his credit card at a nearby gas station and restaurant, police said.
The victim suffered injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene, police said.
Upon further investigation into the incident, Tillman and Williams were both identified as suspects, police said.
Officers then found Williams at 1:15 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of Riverwalk Homes on North Broadway Street, and she was placed into custody without incident, police said.
Tillman also was placed into custody without incident, at 4:54 p.m. Monday while walking near Division and North Broadway streets, police said.
Williams also was charged after being identified as a suspect in a retail theft that occurred Dec. 24, 2024, at the Burlington store, 1300 N. Larkin Ave., police said.
Tillman and Williams were under pretrial release conditions because of past arrests. Tillman was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his arrest, police said.
