Next Joliet Starbucks headed for The Boulevard on Route 30

The latest Starbucks is headed for The Boulevard, the new development that lies in Joliet and Plainfield and continues to attract new business.

The Joliet City Council on Tuesday approved a drive-thru permit for the future Starbucks.

It will go into an 8,702-square-foot building with space for two other tenants, according to a staff memo on the project.

The Starbucks project comes to light as a Cooper’s Hawk restaurant is under construction on the Plainfield side of The Boulevard.

The development is located along Route 30 just west of the Interstate 55 interchange.

The Plainfield side also includes Costco, the first business to open in The Boulevard. Costco opened in 2020.

The first business on the Joliet side was the Olive Garden restaurant that opened in 2023.

Joliet has seen several Starbucks built and planned in recent years.

Tom Williams with The Boulevard development group told the City Council that Starbucks sees a need for a second Route 30 location to handle the volume of drive-thru business it gets.

“According to [Starbucks], it’s warranted,” Williams said.

Starbucks has another location off Route 30 on the east side of the I-55 interchange near the Louis Joliet Mall.
