Bolingbrook 68, Lemont 48: In the Hoops 4 Hunger Shootout at Northwestern’s Welsh-Ryan Arena, the Raiders got a game-high 29 points from Davion Thompson, while JT Pettigrew had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots. Brady Pettigrew had nine points and six rebounds, while Trey Brost had eight points and 10 assists.
Joliet West 56, Peoria Manual 47: The Tigers picked up the win in the Hoops 4 Hunger Shootout at Northwestern’s Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Joliet Catholic Academy 47, Prosser 32: At the Terry Head MLK Shootout, the Hilltoppers were led by Donavyn Simmons' 17 points, while Jack Superits, Brady Tunkel and Eli Passehl each scored eight.
Providence Catholic 70, Evergreen Park 66: Freshman Kelechi Eniya led the Celtics with 20 points, while Seth Cheney scored 17, Ryan Likpe 16 and AJ Rayford 10.
West Aurora 69, Plainfield East 57: The Bengals suffered the nonconference loss.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lockport 40, Lincoln-Way West 28: Addison Way led Lockport (20-3, 9-1) to the Southwest Suburban Conference win with 13 points, while Alaina Peetz had eight points, 12 rebounds, four blocked shots and seven steals. Katie Peetz added eight rebounds for the Porters. Lincoln-Way West (15-6, 8-1) was led by Kenzie Roesner with 12 points and Caroline Smith with nine.
Huntley 50, Lincoln-Way East 42: At the DeKalb MLK Shootout, Alaina Vargas led the Griffins with 12 points in the loss.
Providence Catholic 52, Southland Prep 12: Taylor Healy and Kennady Kotowski led the Celtics with nine points each, while Grace Lustig scored eight. Molly Knight (9 assists) and Sadie Webb each scored six points.
Marian Catholic 50, Coal City 39: At the MLK Shootout at Coal City, Darcy Ness led the Coalers with 14 points.
Coal City 58, Wheaton Academy 56: At the MLK Shootout at Coal City, Emma Rodriguez led Coal City (15-6) with 19 points, while Sydney Larson scored 10.
Minooka 46, St. Charles North 37: The Indians (13-9) picked up the nonconference win.
BOYS WRESTLING
Illini Classic: Lincoln-Way West finished in sixth place at the 24-team event, while Lincoln-Way East was seventh, Providence Catholic 10th and Minooka 14th. Placers for the Warriors were Brandon Barvisha (185, 1st), Nate Elstner (215, 2nd), Shane Stream (126, 3rd), Brady Glynn (113, 4th), Carder Dibenedetto (132, 6th), DJ Freeman (165, 6th) and Jimmy Talley (190, 7th).
Flott Invitational: Plainfield Central took first place. Individual champions for the Wildcats were Antonio Montoya (285), Anthony Minnito (220) and Jayden Mizelle (120). Taking second were Jack Bowen (150), Mikey Laudadio (175), Brody Rangel (132), and Liam Thompson (130).
Geneseo Invitational: Joliet Catholic Academy took third place despite entering only nine wrestlers. Jason Hampton and Nico Ronchetti were individual champions for the Hilltoppers.
GIRLS WRESTLING
Rich Township Invitational: Joliet Central took second place. Individual placers for the Steelmen were Izabel Barrera (1st), Jewel Mister (2nd), Emma Guethle (3rd), Kassie Ruiz (3rd), Alisa Carter (3rd), Melissa Aguirre (3rd), April Ortiz (3rd), and Valeria Hernandez (4th).
BOYS BOWLING
Joliet Central Regional: Joliet West took first place with a score of 6,230, while Joliet Central (6,114) was second and Lockport (5,979) third. All three teams advanced to next week’s sectional. Joliet West was led by Tyler McDonald’s 1,444 series, while Central’s top bowler was Garrett Johnson (1,337). Lockport’s top score came from Austin LiCausi (1,280). Qualifying for the sectional as individuals were Lemont’s Larson Shoup and Aaron Schmeltzer, Plainfield Central’s Vincent Catron, Kaden Baker and Jaxsyn Horgan, Plainfield North’s Luis Gonzalez and Ian Datwyler, Plainfield South’s Jonah Powell and Bolingbrook’s Tyler Macadio.
Minooka Regional: Minooka won the championship with a team score of 6,128, led by a 1,350 series by Zach Kunkle. Reed-Custer’s Mason Vasil advanced to the sectional as an individual as well.
