Joliet City Council to consider NorthPoint land donation for water tower

Joliet water tower along Hennepin Drive. A project is underway that will bring Lake Michigan water to Joliet by 2030. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 in Joliet.

The Joliet City Council will consider approving a donation of land on Tuesday with a value of about $377,000 from NorthPoint for the construction of a future water tower.

The water tower will be located near Route 53 and West Breen Road, according to a statement Thursday from the city of Joliet.

The donated land will facilitate the construction of a new elevated water storage tank, which is “essential for delivering water to Joliet’s southeastern area,” city officials said.

“This tank will not serve the Compass Business Park itself and the developer of the business park, Northpoint, will be responsible for constructing and paying for a separate storage tank to meet its own water supply needs,” city officials said.

The City Council will consider a resolution at Tuesday’s meeting to approve the donation of land from Northpoint through its real estate holding entity, TCIH Holdings.

Joliet has reached an agreement with TCIH Holdings to accept the donation of 1.317 acres of land for the construction of a new water storage tank, city officials said.

“The new water storage tank will support both residential and industrial water service, ensuring reliable access to water and adequate firefighting capabilities in the southeastern part of Joliet,” city officials said.

TCIH Holdings, LLC, the real estate holding entity for Northpoint, is dontaing land to the city of Joliet for construction of a future water tower near Route 53 and West Breen Road. The tower will serve the southeastern area of Joliet.
