IHSA State Finals: After the preliminary round at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Providence Catholic is in first place in Class 1A with a score of 93.56, with Morris second with 92.34. Joliet Catholic Academy is in ninth place with a score of 87 and will also compete in Saturday’s finals. In Class 2A, Lincoln-Way West is in ninth place with a score of 86.54 and will compete in the finals as well.
Boys basketball
Oswego East 42, Minooka 40: The Indians dropped a crucial conference game.
Plainfield North 54, Oswego 50: Pierre Pointer (16 points), Quintin Wiencek (14 points) and Lukas Alvarez (10 points) led the way for the Tigers.
Lockport 71, Stagge 33: Anthony Kosi (22 points), Nojus Venckus (12 points) and Izeyah Pruitt (nine points, seven rebounds) led the way.
Bolingbrook 63, Yorkville 48: Davion Thompson (29 points, five rebounds) and JT Pettigrew (22 points, 16 rebounds) led the way.
Bradley-Bourbonnais 54, Lincoln-Way Central 37: The Knights are now 17-8 overall and 7-5 in conference play.
Coal City 65, Pontiac 64: The Coalers won a razor-thin one Friday evening.
Serena 52, Gardner-South Wilmington 41: GSW fell to 4-19 on the year.
Boys bowling
IHSA State Finals: Lincoln-Way East’s Jacob Przybylinski rolled a 300 in his first game at St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon, helping put the Griffins in fourth place entering Saturday’s final day of competition. The Griffins rolled a team total of 6,175 over six games and trail only Harrisburg (6,491), Harlem (6,443) and Dixon (6,191). Pryzbylinski’s six-game total of 1,334 puts him in 10th place individually.
Lincoln-Way East is the only area team to finish Friday in the top 12 and advance to Saturday’s final round. Other area teams and their Friday scores were Joliet West (16th, 5,853), Lincoln-Way West (17th, 5,808), Lincoln-Way Central (18th, 5,725) and Minooka (19th, 5,698).
