A home and attached garage in Crest Hill was damaged by fire Monday evening.
The Lockport Township Fire Protection District responded to a fire at a two-story house in the 20400 block of Kingsbrook Drive at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
The fire appeared to have started in the garage and spread to the residence, causing “significant damage” to the garage and some damage to the residence, leaving the home uninhabitable, according to the fire protection district.
Residents were home at the time but were able to get out of the house without injuries, according to the fire protection district.
The fire was upgraded to a full still which brought in mutual aid assistance from Romeoville Fire Department and the Plainfield Fire Protection District.
The Crest Hill Building Department was on the scene to assess the residence, according to the fire protection district.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by Lockport Township Fire Protection District investigators.
