UPDATE: Lanes reopened following crash on Frontage Road near I-55 in Channahon

Scott's Law is named after Lieutenant Scott Gillen of the Chicago Fire Department who was struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while assisting at a crash. It requires drivers approaching police or emergency vehicles who are stopped on the roadway to reduce speeds, proceed with caution and switch lanes, if possible.

Illinois State Police are investigating a crash on the Frontage Road to Arsenal Road off Interstate 55, near the Exxon Mobile refinery in Channahon.

The southbound lanes of the Frontage Road were shut down for several hours Tuesday morning, state police said.

Drivers were told to expect traffic backups onto I-55 southbound, state police said.
