Chicago area writer Norm Cowie writes and publishes humorous, fast-paced books.
I like to read books with horror elements – no jump scares, more like crumbling castles and shadows lurking around corners.
So two years ago, Cowie sent me a copy of “Fang Face,” a lighthearted vampire novel, which I reviewed for the LocalLit newsletter. I enjoyed it so much that I put his two werewolf books on my “to-read” list.
I’ll be reviewing the pair, one at a time, over the next two weeks.
First up: “Mooned,” which Cowie released about six months ago. It’s 176 pages and, judging from its description, ought to be a fun read.
Here is its Amazon description: “On a full moon night, a werewolf forgets to lock up his dog and cat before turning, and when a wolf suddenly appears in the living room, naturally his pets have to investigate. But they are bitten and turn into something the world has never known … werehumans. As the were infection spreads into the country, affecting other animals, an unusual savior comes from the far North to save humanity. A dark, funny ‘tail’ full of excitement, horror and Kibbles and Bits.”
