WCSF 88.7 FM has new web address, new student-designed website

Radio station at Joliet university offers variety of programming 24/7

Cosme Lozano, a student at the Univeristy of St. Francis in Joliet, has just given the website for the school’s radio station a new look.

WCSF 88.7 FM, which students staff, also has a new online home, according to a news release from WCSF.

The website features updates from USF student and WCSF social media coordinaor Mary Mathieu, whom Lozano said in an email, “has been very helpful and consistent in her maintenance of the site.”

Lozano, a communication and media arts major and WCSF program director, said in an email that he had the idea from redesigning the webite while in the Web Publishing and Platforms class with Terre Rosner.

Our big project for the semester was working with a real client and creating for them an updated version of their current site or creating a new site,” Lozano said in the email. “Being the program director for WCSF, I felt this was a tremendous opportunity for me to do something special for the radio station and for the class.”

Lozano said he wanted to created a website that was more streamlined, easier to navigate and had more detail.

“We felt we had good content before, so we just needed to better optimize it,” Lozano said.

WCSF offers programming 24 hours a day, seven days week. The radio station broadcasts news, talk shows, the USF Fighting Saints football and a wide variety of music, including rock, folk, jazz, urban, dance, holiday and classical, the release said.

Its popular holiday program, The Spirit of Christmas, begins each year on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 25 this year) and continues through noon on Jan. 2, 2022, the release said.

Visit wcsfradio.com to find WCSF’s weekly program schedule, a link to listen to the station online, a variety of music charts and station news.
