Saturday: ‘The Polar Express’
The “Polar Express” movie is based on the popular children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. The Rialto’s website sayd, “When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe..”
The movie stars Tom Hanks and is rated G. The movie begins at 7 p.m.
Sunday: ‘Sounds of Christmas’
The Joliet American Legion Band’s annual “Sounds of Christmas” concert will start at 2 p.m. at the Rialto Square Theatre, 102 N. Chicago St. in Joliet. Doors open at 1 p.m. The United Methodist Church of New Lenox’s bell choir will perform in the rotunda prior to the concert and during intermission.
Ticket price is a generous donation of non-perishable food. Ticket are available at the Rialto Square Theatre from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday; and at the door before the concert begins, when the doors open at 1 p.m.

Wednesday: ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ (1947)
A man named Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) becomes popular with customers after he fills in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade. But when Kris insists he is the real Santa Claus, a court case ensues to determine his mental health an authenticity. Movie time is 1 p.m.
