30th anniversary Silver Cross Charity Golf Classic raises $274,000

Block Electric in Shorewood, Bob Filotto and Frank Margaron honored at event

The 30th anniversary of the Silver Cross Foundation’s Annual Charity Golf Classic was held on June 28 at the Crystal Tree Country Club in Orland Park.

The golf classic attracted more than 200 golfers and friends of Silver Cross and raised $274,000.

Proceeds will support medical, surgical and birthing rooms, a 24-bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit scheduled to open in 2022, and other hospital facilities, programs and technology.

Block Electric in Shorewood was honored with the hospital’s first Silver Cross Corporate Citizen Award.

The Block Family Foundation has contributed more than $2.5 million to numerous charitable organizations – including the Silver Cross Foundation – since 1991. For the past 10 years, Block Electric has participated in the American Cancer Society’s Walk and Roll event in Chicago. Block Electric also has provided college scholarships to the children of their employees.

Silver Cross also recognized Bob Filotto and Frank Margaron. Filotto and Margaron were members of the first Silver Cross Charity Golf Classic Committee, which laid the groundwork for the event to raise more than $5 million since 1992.

The 31st annual Silver Cross Charity Golf Classic will be held June 27, 2022, again at the Crystal Tree Country Club.
