Don’t wait to sign up for a free holiday food basket

Will County Center for Community Concerns providing holiday food baskets for just 125 income eligible families

In honor of National Hunger Action Month, six Plainfield organizations are holding a community food drive.

The Will County Center for Community Concerns is now taking applications for holiday food baskets.

According to a Thursday news release, the organization will provide holiday food baskets for 125 income eligible families with children ages 16 or under.

The foods baskets are for the December holiday only.

In addition to a holiday meal, these baskets will include a new coat, hat mittens and gifts for each child in the household.

Documentation you must submit include:

• Proof of residency in Will County in the form of a utility bill, mortgage or valid lease.

• Proof of 30 days of income for all members of the household from all sources of income

• Printout of any benefits received from the Illinois Department of Human Services

• Photo ID of the person applying

• Social Security cards for each person in the household

• Medical card or birth certificate for each child under the age of 16
