Silver Cross opens 2nd urgent care facility

The new facility opened Thursday in Mokena

Silver Cross Hospital opened an urgent care in Mokena at 8 a.m. Thursday at 21205 S. Owens Road.

The center, which will be open seven days a week, features five exam rooms as well as an on-site lab, X-ray services, a procedure room and a waiting room, according to a news release from Silver Cross.

Licensed nurse practitioners and physician assistants will staff the center. Patients may schedule an appointment or walk-in, according to the release.

In addition, Hedges Medical Group in Frankfort, will relocate its practice to this 20,000-square-foot facility in December, according to the release.

Silver Cross also has an urgent care at 1851 Silver Cross Blvd., Suite 100, New Lenox.

The urgent care centers treat allergic reactions, asthma, broken bones and fractures, colds, coughs and sore throats; eye and ear infections; flu symptoms; food poisoning; headaches; hemorrhoids; ingrown toenails, nail infection and foot fungus; insect and animal bites; joint pain; minor burns; nausea; scrapes and abrasions; sinus infection; skin infections and rashes; sprains and strains; swollen glands; and work-related injuries, according to the Silver Cross website.

The Mokena urgent care is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The New Lenox urgent care is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
